"Octopus was specifically commissioned by an art consultant for a commercial site in Coral Springs, Florida. I placed the octopus on the edge of a fountain as though it were crawling out, in an animated gesture. I enjoy placing sculptural objects or vignettes in unpredictable settings other than the proverbial sculpture-on-the-pedestal-in-the-park. The public most often responds with delight and surprise at discovering sculpture in an atypical context. "
