Professionally Framed, These hand-colored digital prints are scans of drawings made on the original photographic prints of the x-rays of injured birds. Using graphite and charcoal I draw on them again using the prior drawing as inspiration for the new.

The bird x-ray drawings are archetypes of my experiences in the landscape and serve as personal metaphors for living in the world. The birds inherent beauty and grace, surprising without their showy feathers, are a signal to me that things are not always what they appear to be. Further, their anatomy and their seemingly human appearance remind me just how connected we are to all life.
