Galerie Michelle features contemporary art from established and emerging artists

Galerie Michelle announced its grand opening as the new gallery in Lancaster City, opening its doors to the public on Friday September 7th, for the first Friday art events that take place monthly in Lancaster. Galerie Michelle is located inside Spiziri Insurance Associates which has been an established insurance business for 39 years. Galerie Michelle and Spiziri Insurance Associates are located at 226 West Chestnut Street; 2 blocks southwest of Prince Street and the Pennsylvania School of Art and Design. The gallery’s curator is Michelle Spiziri Leff. Michelle is a 1990 graduate of Pennsylvania School of Art and Design and the Maryland Institute, College of Art (1992) in Baltimore.

Galerie Michelle is supporting the concept of art in businesses as a natural partnership. One of the fundamental goals of SPIZIRI ART GROUP is to bring various
local artists together with private businesses in order to provide them with a forum for displaying their work in a public setting. Art in businesses sets the tone for creative thinking, well being, increased productivity, and embraces a culturally, rich, diverse work environment. It also promotes the value of having art in places where people travel daily. People are drawn to an experiential environment. One filled with color, texture, and stimulating content. Galerie Michelle offers all this with 2 and 3-d art with whimsical, traditional, and spiritual content. Always appropriate to the context, Galerie Michelle shows quality pieces guaranteed to outlast passing fashion trends suitable for ageless enjoyment for the home or office. Mayor Richard Gray is a huge supporter of the arts in Lancaster and it has been reported in the Intelligencer Journal that he hopes to see Lancaster as one of the greatest art Mecca’s on the East coast.

Many of the artists who will be featured at Galerie Michelle are established artists and some are internationally known artists.

We strive to carry art that is innovative and superbly crafted while also creating and supporting a network of artists. Our exhibitions will rotate every three months and we will serve light refreshments each first Friday. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 9 am -5 pm and by appointment.
